Request For Workshop Proposal Guidelines

Purpose

Black Feminist Project is seeking proposals to be conducted at our Alice Fields Community Center For Black Women, Girls, And Marginalized genders. We are looking for a diverse range of workshops from one-day events to multi-week.

General Organizational Info

The Black Feminist Project, founded as the BLK Projek in Bronx, NY, enriches the lives of, restores agency, justice, joy and health to Black women, youth and girls - with an emphasis on mother-led families.

We do this by exploring the intersections between food and reproductive justice. Currently, we have a 5,400 square foot urban farm in the Hunts Point/Longwood section of the Bronx. We run an empowerment program which is a dinner series called ”Sis, do You!” We are expanding our food box and mobile market program and finally we have just opened the Alice Fields Community Center For Black Women, Girls, And Marginalized Genders which will include a pantry, a small food pantry, and a commercial kitchen.

The AFCC is a storefront community center located in the Longwood section of the Bronx that is a direct services and organizing space. It is a soft space for Black femme & LGTBQAI+led families to land. There is an emphasis on not only providing direct & safety net services, space for civic engagement, education & community building but also providing joyful spaces where Blackness is unapologetically centered and amplified.

To that end, we are looking for community members, practitioners, artists, educators, chefs, gardeners, and others to build an inclusive and expansive workshop roster.
